Z-Day 2015

The Rio Grande Valley Zeitgeist Movement will host its annual Z-Day event on Sunday March 15, 2015 at the Dustin Michael Sekula Memorial Library from 1:30 to 4:30 PM. This is concert with the global Zeitgeist Movement  effort to engage the community at large with our train of thought on helping to make the world a better place for all people.

We will be screening documentary films, presenting information about a resource based economy and discussing the root causes and potential solutions to many significant social ills that face us as a global family. Please join us!

We Recently Lost An Ally

I'm saddened to report that Michael Ruppert, one of the most ardent and active voices for change of the last few decades, recently committed suicide. This is the full interview he conducted with Peter Joseph for the Zeitgeist: Moving Forward film, released in honor of his life and his memory. There is little that can be said of Michael beyond the plain facts of his life's work, helping to make the world a better place for all people and the commitment to pursuing the truth, no matter where it lead or what conclusions were drawn from it. Let this be a reminder that we should not take each other for granted, and to utilize the time we are granted with wisdom and care in the endeavor of changing the zeitgeist towards a positive and sustainable future for all.

Two Announcements

The Rio Grande Valley Zeitgeist Movement is happy to announce that the city of Brownsville now has a local chapter of the Zeitgeist Movement! We have always wanted to better serve the community of Brownsville, but were unable to do so. We are fortunate that local member Juan Berlanga has taken the initiative of forming a local chapter. You can join them on their new Facebook group and start planning to engage the local community and help make the world a better place for all people.

Speaking of planning, our local Z-Day 2014 event is beginning to take shape! Our local event will tentatively be held at the Edinburg city library on Saturday, March 15th. We are announcing a request for presentations. If you have a 15-20 minute presentation regarding a resource based economy, or any topic related to it or the local community of the Rio Grande Valley, please contact us at RGVZGM@gmail.com and submit your ideas. We look forward to seeing all of the creative communications and ideas from our local activist community and hope to see you in attendance! We will share more details as the event planning unfolds. Social Meet Up

The Rio Grande Valley Zeitgeist Movement is holding a social gathering and meet up this Saturday at MoonBeans Coffee in McAllen on Saturday. We will be discussing a resource based economy, the trending bitcoin phenomenon, NSA spying revelations, and other topics of interest. Come join us!

Announcing Our Upcoming Meetings

The Rio Grande Valley Zeitgeist Movement will hold a general meeting on Saturday, August 10th at the Edinburg Public Library, from 11:30 to 2:30. We will be meeting new members, discussing recent Zeitgeist Movement events and planning and preparing for upcoming actions, events and meetings. We hope to see you there!

In addition, there has been another event scheduled on Saturday, August 17th at the MoonBeans Coffee shop in Mcallen at 6pm. This event was scheduled independently by a new member and I am personally grateful for the initiative and effort demonstrated by this action. I look forward to attending!

Culture in Decline Episode 5 Released

Peter Joseph's latest episode of Culture In Decline is now available on YouTube. This installment covers the distinct culture of fear manifested by our sick society and points out the economic and political mechanisms that give rise to this multifaceted phenomenon. The numbers detailing the historical incarceration trends are shocking. Please be sure to check it out so that you can live in a little bit less fear, and help make the world a better place for all people.

Attending the Environmental Awareness Club's Earthfest 2013 Event

The Environmental Awareness Club of UTPA is hosting a series of events for this Earth Week, and has graciously invited the Rio Grande Valley Zeitgeist Movement to attend their Earth Fest event! On Thursday, April 25th, from 12 to 1, we will tabling at their information area on the UTPA Library lawn. We will be distributing information about the Zeitgeist Movement, giving the One Planet Project quiz, and engaging the community with the ideas of a resource based economy and a better world for all people. As we celebrate and contemplate the only planet that the entire human family shares, it is imperative that we recognize the major factors affecting the environment and our society as a whole and work to address them with technical solutions that we have available. We are thankful for the EAC for the invitation, and we hope to see you there!

Z-Day 2013 LA Main Event Videos Now Available

The Zeitgeist Movement recently held their 5th annual Z-Day main event in Los Angeles. While the event was live streamed, many people were not able to view it at that time. Fortunately, the event was recorded in high quality video and is now fully available for all to see. Announcing Our 2013 Z-Day Event

The +Rio Grande Valley Zeitgeist Movement will be holding its annual Z-Day event on Sunday, March 17th, between 1:30 and 4:30, at the Dustin Michael Sekula Memorial Library in Edinburg, TX. Our event will focus on a screening and discussion of the ongoing web series +Culture in Decline, which examines major aspects and foundational assumptions of our culture and society. The major topics will include our dysfunctional economics, our corrupt political system, major value disorders and our propensity for war. While exposing these problems, we will also be exploring their potential solutions, rooted not in political or religious ideologies, but from a perspective that takes into account all people, and our technical ability to solve common human problems. We are excited to share this show with you, and engage in discussion about these and many other aspects of a culture in decline, and what we can do to help make it better for all people. Culture In Decline Episode 4 Now Available

The ongoing webseries Culture In Decline, by Zeitgeist Movement founder Peter Joseph, has just released its fourth episode, entitled "War On Nature". As has been established by the series, this episode takes a closer look at the manifestation of war in a historical cultural context, and its continued and increasingly larger presence in society at large. It continues to be entertainingly irreverent and critically provocative as many common aspects of corporate media complicity and the generated propensity for conflict by the establishment is explored.


The Culture in Decline series will be the focus of our annual Z-Day event this year, as we continue to engage the public with information and media that challenges their assumptions and invites them to question their own beliefs. We will posting more about that event shortly.

TZM Exclusive: "A Tragedy of Circumstance"

Peter Joseph, founder of the Zeitgeist Movement, has issued a press release detailing the unfortunate situation regarding two people who are victims of circumstance. It is a detailed look at the history of the United States' interference and criminal conduct in the Middle East, and focuses on the situation of Saif al-Islam Gaddafi and Orly Weinerman, both of whom are now struggling to free themselves from their current predicament. Miss Weinerman has appealed to the Zeitgeist Movement for assistance. Below is that appeal.

The love story - A staple of our history and culture. As much as
modern economic theory and the dubious claims about our supposed
“Human Nature” would have us believe that all humans are merely
selfish organisms that would rather sacrifice each other than save
each other for the sake of mere convenience, the archetypal love story
prolific in our artwork challenges all - and reminds us of our deeply
empathic and social nature – a clear characteristic of our
evolutionary psychology and perhaps even the hidden saving grace of
our evolutionary fitness as a species.

A New Reality Show: Culture In Decline

Zeitgeist film series creator and Zeitgeist Movement founder Peter Joseph is currently producing a new video series titled Culture In Decline. The first episode, titled "What Democracy?" was recently released, and examines the nature and underlying myths of democratic government in the context of a monetary system and dominance seeking society. Viewers of the Zeitgeist film series will notice many of the same themes, references and lines of thought in this episode, but with a narrower focus on the farce that is democracy. Featuring live action skits and on the street interviews, this episode, and likely the series, will provide for a much more digestible format for the average viewer that delivers critical information, analysis and satire. If you enjoyed this episode, please share it with those who might otherwise not be able to watch a feature length documentary all at once. I, personally, am looking forward to future shows. Planning Our Rio Grande Valley Zeitgeist Movement Media Festival

The global Zeitgeist Media Festival event is approaching fast, and we are planning and preparing our event right here in the Rio Grande Valley. The Zeitgeist Media Festival is a celebration of art, music, advocacy and communication. We want to use the power of art and expression to help make the world a better place for all people. We are working with local performers, artists, poets and organizations to help spread a message to our community in a way that more formal settings are generally unable to. In addition to our message, we want to encourage giving back to our community by asking attendees to donate non-perishable food items to local groups like the Food Bank of the Rio Grande Valley and the local chapter of Food Not Bombs. While we recognize that we cannot rely upon charity to resolve the root problems, we do recognize the need to reduce what suffering we can while we can.

Rio Grande Valley Zeitgeist Movement Announces Z-Day Event

The Rio Grande Valley Zeitgeist Movement will hold their annual Z-Day event on Saturday, March 10th at South Texas College. The event will begin at noon, and will continue on until 8pm. We welcome the public to come and learn about the Zeitgeist Movement, a Resource Based Economy, and how start demanding a better world for all people.

30 Days of Zeitgeist - Day 0

In 30 days, on March 10th,  the Zeitgeist Movement will be holding it's annual global community event, Z-Day. The main event will be in Vancouver, Canada, and all regional, state and local chapters are encouraged to hold similar community education and outreach event. The Rio Grande Valley Zeitgeist Movement held it's own event last year at South Texas College. This year, we will once again be holding a similar event, and are hoping to attract even more socially conscious and aware people than ever before. The recent rise of the Occupy Wall Street Movement, as well as our relationship with the local Occupy McAllen movement and People for Peace and Justice, make this a crucial time to reach out and give people access to the information that they need in order to understand the forces we struggle against, and the solutions we propose.

To that end, and to make up for the recent disuse of this blog, I will be posting an article once a day, every day, for 30 days, linking to important Zeitgeist related articles, videos, news pieces and other media that highlight the current discussions going on in and about the Zeitgeist Global Movement, the Venus Project and the Occupy movement. I encourage you to engage with this media, to comment and discuss what it means to you, and to learn as much as you can about the world around you. The more relevant information we have access to, the better off we will all be, in a society that thrives on misinformation, deception and fraud. Announcing Rio Grande Valley Zeitgeist Movement Meeting 20

The Rio Grande Valley Zeitgeist Movement will hold its 20th scheduled meeting on Wednesday, October 5th at 6:00PM on the UTPA campus. We will gather at the University Center Circle at the Southwest corner of the campus in front of the cafeteria.

Our general agenda will be reviewing our awareness activism at the UTPA HESTEC event, plan for future awareness activism events such as Second Saturday here in Edinburg, discussing the ongoing #OccupyWallStreet movement and explore how we can assist or participate in this rapidly growing movement. Personally, I see this as an opportunity to bring the message of a sustainable and abundant social design for the benefit of all people to an group desperately trying to develop a solution to the general problem of the monetary system. The Rio Grande Valley Zeitgeist Movement will be engaging in awareness activity on Saturday, October 1st between 4 and 9 PM at the University of Texas Pan American's annual HESTEC Community Day. This event focuses on science, engineering and technology, which will give us a great starting point to talk to the local community and engage them with our ideas, our goals and share our knowledge of current technological capabilities that can result in a better world for all people. We will gather, if possible, at the gazebo in the central courtyard of the HPE Building I. I encourage everyone to produce whatever fliers, DVD's and other information that they can in order to distribute. It is important to note that we are not an officially recognized organization at this event, so we will not have booth or table space allocated to us. Announcing Rio Grande Valley Zeitgeist Movement Meeting 18

The Rio Grande Valley Zeitgeist Movement will hold their 18th scheduled meeting on Wednesday, August 3rd, 2011 at South Texas College. We will meet in Building H, room 231. We will be joined by Bio-mechanical Engineer Brian Cerda to discuss the practical implementation of a home based hydroponics growing system. We will also be discussing the upcoming Zeitgeist Media Festival that is being held globally on the weekend of September 9th. We hope to see you there!
