ZDay 2014 Event Videos Now Available
We would like to thank everyone who participated in and attended our recent Zday 2014 event. The global Zeitgeist Movement continues to be one of the most anticipated and significant events of the year for ours and many other chapters around the world. We are glad to see new members of the community attend and connect with us and other activists and educators in our area, and look forward to the new and exciting projects and events we can plan and attend together. Below, you will find the videos of the presentations that were given at our local event. I hope you watch them and learn more about the possibilities and importance of transitioning to a resource based economy. We look forward to upcoming opportunities to share this train of thought with more people, and we hope to see you there too!

Z-Day 2013 LA Main Event Videos Now Available
The Zeitgeist Movement recently held their 5th annual Z-Day main event in Los Angeles. While the event was live streamed, many people were not able to view it at that time. Fortunately, the event was recorded in high quality video and is now fully available for all to see. Please check out these interesting speakers and their remarkable insights into culture, the economy, education, science, social movements and our continuing efforts to help make the world a better place for all people!

30 Days of Zeitgeist - Day 22
Technology Entertainment Design, or TED, is an organization that brings together interesting people from all over the world, and allows them to present ideas, experiences and performances with those who can afford to attend. In recent years, they have been posting the videos of these presentations online for all to see. Just this week, two different presentations were made at this year's event that both talk about the possibilities of an abundance based future, and the inevitable collapse of our current social and economic structures. One video appeals to optimism, to historical and technological trends, the growing efficiency of production and resource extraction and many positive developments made in recent months and years. The other video depicts a dark future, filled with chaos, depression, collapse and death. It recognizes that the current trajectory of humanity is headed towards global catastrophe, and will likely bring with it great upheaval and change, and that many people will suffer while going through it. While many people see these two presentations as diametrically opposed, many in the Zeitgeist Movement would recognize the common truth of both messages. If humanity is going to survive for any significant length of time, we will have to both change our current methods of organizing society, and develop the technologies necessary to produce access abundance. The TED presentation archives are filled with amazing and compelling videos, and I encourage you to search through their catalog to find something of interest to you, and begin to learn more about the world in which we live, and how we can all help make it better for all people.

30 Days of Zeitgeist - Day 21
The Zeitgeist Broadcasting Network streams original programming, relevant media and live events relating to the Zeitgeist Movement and a Resource Based Economy. Yesterday, ZBN live streamed the TEDx Ojai event in California, an event that featured both a live lecture given by Peter Joseph and a video presentation given by Jacque Fresco of the Venus Project. There was also a live musical performance and a presentation on innovative building technologies. These presentations will be available for download some time in the future, but stay tuned to ZBN for ongoing shows and videos, and future events!

30 Days of Zeitgeist - Day 18
Before there was a Rio Grande Valley Zeitgeist Movement, there was RGV No State, a group dedicated to informing people in the RGV about the false institutions of government, law and other abuses of the social and economic structures that have been the foundation of the major problems we face as a species. This organization, lead by Armando Lopez and composed of many different people from all over the Valley and other parts of Texas, has helped the RGVGZM in many ways since the beginning of the chapter. Not only have they hosted the audio recordings of our meetings, but also share many audio lectures of the Venus Project's director, Jacque Fresco. These lectures, while from many years ago, still hold valuable insight into the radical social changes we seek to implement, and are worth listening to if you would like to know more about such ideas. We are grateful for their past and ongoing support, and their desire to help make the world a better place for all people.

30 Days of Zeitgeist - Day 16
The Zeitgeist Media Project is the website devoted to hosting, sharing and discussing media produced by, for and about the Zeitgeist Movement. It currently hosts hundreds of pages of pictures, flyers, videos, songs and written expression, each advocating a better world for all people. Everyone is able to contribute something, as everything posted to the site is meant not only for individual appreciation, but for sharing and distributing, use in awareness advocacy and events and to inspire others to contribute their own creations. I can't mention this site without also pointing out two contributions from one of our own local RGVZGM members. Many people in our chapter, and in the movement in general are highly talented artists, and we recognize their powerful and motivational expressions as necessary and beneficial to our cause.

30 Days of Zeitgeist - Day 10
For those interested in getting their Zeitgeist Movement news and information in audio format, there are several different radio shows and audio podcasts that are available to you. The most well known is the TZM Global Radio Show, which features several different guest hosts, including Peter Joseph, who regularly gives lectures and relays information about current and future projects. There are also interviews with prominent members of the movement, people associated with other popular movements such as the Occupy Wall Street movement, and other interesting personalities that are associated with or involved in helping to make the world a better place for all people.

Recent Presentations by Peter Joseph
Recently, Peter Joseph, founder of the Zeitgeist Movement and creator of the Zeitgeist film series, has given a presentation to the Leaders Causing Leaders conference, and a speech to the #OccupyLA gathering and protest event. Fortunately, video of these very thoughtful and informative talks have been shared with the world and are presented below. As the worldwide rejection of the current political, social and economic structures continues to grow, we must be able to grasp the true nature of the problems we face and respond to them with viable and sustainable solutions that help everyone. The Rio Grande Valley Zeitgeist Movement stands with our local community in their efforts to bring awareness and information to the population and their continuing efforts to affect positive change to make the world a better place for all people.

Notes on our 20th Meeting and #OccupyMcAllen Event
The Rio Grande Valley Zeitgeist Movement held an abbreviated meeting on Wednesday, October 5th, at 6:00 PM on the University of Texas-Pan American campus. The 4 members in attendance were very excited about and discussed the recent Occupy Wall Street movement that was growing across the nation and around the world, as well as the local Occupy McAllen event scheduled for the next day. We were also very pleased to have Sandy Lopez be in attendance after being out of town for an extended period of time. We ended the brief meeting after an hour or so and the majority of our group went to the sign making meeting for the Occupy McAllen meeting in Edinburg, hosted by a very generous family.
While there, we were fortunate enough to be joined by other RGVZGM members as well as other residents and activists throughout the evening. We shared our various views about the Occupy movement, our life experiences that brought us to this movement and how we can help each other achieve the different goals that we all had. I am glad to have met the wonderful artists, activists and other individuals who attended that session and am very grateful for their hospitality and generosity of art supplies and space.
On Thursday, October 6th, over 300 people arrived at Archer Park in McAllen to march in protest of the grotesque inequalities that our current social, economic and political systems have created. We moved across the downtown district and around the local Chase Tower to demonstrate the disdain we held for the large banks and the monetary system they represent. We concluded the event with public speakers, voicing their opinions, their concerns and their calls to action. The media coverage of the event was somewhat uneven, but we were for the most part well represented. As expected, the media does not yet fully comprehend the meaning of this worldwide movement, and is unlikely to be truthful about its underlying causes and desired outcomes. This is where the ideas and understandings of a resource based economy can flourish, however, as the upset masses begin to recognize the failures of the system and demand resolutions to it. I encourage all people who want a better world for all people to learn about the root causes of the current corruption endemic to our culture and begin to think about what are the real values that are relevant to the survival of you and your loved ones. Only then can we start to demand a better world, not only for all of us, but from all of us.

Announcing Rio Grande Valley Zeitgeist Movement Meeting 15
The Rio Grande Valley Zeitgeist Movement will hold its fifteenth meeting on Wednesday, April 6th at South Texas College, in building H, room 231 at 6 PM. We will be hosted by the STC chapter of the Zeitgeist Movement student organization.
Our general agenda will be to review our recent Z-Day event, discuss global movement news and future events and to come up with ways we can start to improve our lives locally, both individually and as an organization working for the community. There was a great deal of interest in the informative hydroponics presentation that was given at our Z-Day event, and we can discuss the idea of starting our own such operations.
In addition, we will open the discussion to any other issues, concerns, questions or other topics anyone would like to bring up. Please let us know what you would like to see our group work on by commenting here on our blog, emailing us, or using our discussion group. Notes On Our Tenth Meeting

The Rio Grande Valley Zeitgeist Movement held its tenth meeting this week, in McAllen, Texas at our old meeting venue at South Texas College. We were once again graciously hosted by the Zeitgeist Movement at South Texas College student organization. We were able to discuss a good number of important upcoming events, welcomed our two newest members, and planned for our next meeting.
We began with a discussion of our recent screenings of Zeitgeist Moving Forward, and discussed how we could better use the film at future events. We determined that due to the length and content of the film, it might be better viewed in sections, rather than shown as a whole. This discussion lead us naturally into a discussion of our upcoming major event, Z-Day.
We discussed the idea of turning our Z-Day event into a three-day, art/music/lecture/video/presentation/community event, allowing a diverse group of individuals, organizations and artists take the stage at STC to help bring awareness and understanding of the Zeitgeist Movement to the community. The STC student organization will be attempting to reserve the auditorium for the weekend of March 11th, and we will intersperse sections of the latest film, lectures and presentations by local professors and community leaders, TED videos and other documentary selections, as well as musical performing artists. We hope to have nearly 20 hours of content to help fill the time we have requested, which should not be difficult due to the overwhelming amount of information that is available to us. We ask all of our members to think about who and what they would like to see discussed and suggest it on our discussion list so that we can approach them with this interesting opportunity.
During this discussion, two of our newest members joined in the discussion. We were able to give them copies of the rough draft of our New Member Orientation information, and they immediately started contributing their ideas and suggestions to our plans. We are very grateful for their attendance, and we encourage them and others to continue attending our future meetings and events. We each give valuable perspective to our shared vision, and it makes for a far better outcome.
We then discussed the possibility of having meetings in the lower valley. There has been a growing number of people in Harlingen who would like to be a part of the movement, and we would very much like to see this become a reality. I encourage all interested parties to let us know when and where you would like to meet so that we may organize a meeting there. I hope to see all of you soon so that we can help spread our information to more people in more areas!
We also discussed some more ways to help make people aware in more ways as individuals. Update: Our friends at RGV No State Project are graciously hosting the audio recordings of this and previous meetings.
The Rio Grande Valley Zeitgeist Movement held it's 10th general meeting this week, and was graciously hosted once again by Ray Perez at his home in Mission. Once again, we were provided with a pleasant and intimate environment, with food and beverage provided by several of our members. Even after our stated agenda had been completed, we found ourselves spending even more time engaging in interesting discourse and enjoying some great food and dessert. It was a truly a great pleasure.
We were able to work our way through the stated agenda, including making plans for Friday's Art Walk and sharing designs for flyers and tickets that we will be handing out during that event. In addition, we made final plans for our Zeitgeist Moving Forward screenings in Edinburg and McAllen. There was discussion and planning made for a New Member Orientation meeting to be held during the week of the screenings to help receive new members who join. We also came up with some more structural and content related plans for our upcoming New Member Information Packet, and started to contemplate a New Member DVD. Some of the newer things we discussed were having a meeting in the Harlingen area for those members who are unable to travel to the McAllen area. If you live in the lower valley and are interested in facilitating or attending such a meeting, please contact us or join in our discussion group to lend voice to your community. We hope to start reaching new areas in the RGV, and the sooner the better. One of our last topics of discussion was the After Hours Music Concert that will take place on January 14th. Thanks to the efforts of one of our members, we have been allowed to setup an information table and distribute literature and information to those in attendance. This will be a great opportunity to help direct people to our movement and our screenings and an exciting development for our cause.
Our next meeting will likely be a private meeting to screen the Zeitgeist Moving Forward after we acquire it from Peter Joseph. More details will be made available on or after January 11th. This will be our last meeting before the music concert and the screening, so those two events will likely be the focus at that time. Thanks again to everyone who has helped us get this far, and for continuing to work for a better world for all people.

Notes on our Eighth Meeting

Update: Our friends at the RGV No State Project have graciously hosted the audio recordings of this and previous meetings.
The Rio Grande Valley Zeitgeist Movement held its eighth meeting and was graciously hosted by member Ray Perez and his family in their home on Wednesday, December 22nd 2010. There was a good deal of snacks and drinks provided, and we were all treated to a comfortable and intimate environment. The venue is so popular now that we plan on holding our next meeting there as well. We are very fortunate to have generous members in our group and I just want to say again how much they are appreciated.
The meeting started off with a short discussion about our previous Art Walk experience, in which there were some raised concerns about our ability to effectively communicate our movement's purpose and goal. We spent some time discussing how we can hone the description of our movement into a short and concise statement that would help people get what we're doing. We understand that the Venus Project contains such a great deal of nebulous ideas, but ultimately, we can conclude that we advocate a radical redesign of society with a relevant set of values and utilizing the method and tools of science and technology to remove or reduce problems we have today.
We then transitioned abruptly into a fairly time consuming discussion concerning the possibility of the Venus Project working with the New World Order global elite. One of our members had found some information that she believed was evidence of such a link, and wanted to make us aware of the potential dangers. There was a great deal of debate, point of views expressed and some intense questioning that took place, but ultimately, we had to end the discussion for the time being in order to proceed with the publicly discussed agenda.
We moved on to discussion about our upcoming screenings of Zeitgeist Moving Forward. We have now secured two locations to hold screenings, both in McAllen and in Edinburg. We will be making official announcements about these soon. We also decided to have a meeting after the screenings in order to help welcome and orientate new members who may join after watching the film. Along those lines, we discussed the idea of having a new member packet which will contain hard copies of important documents and understandings of our movement. We hope to be able to identify relevant documents for our community and provide them to all who join us.
Related to that is the need to start advertising our screenings. Our major push for advertising the film will be the upcoming McAllen Art Walk on January 7th. We discussed the plans we should make in terms of placement of our table, the need for permits and the focusing of our fliers and shirt designs on our upcoming screenings of ZMF.
We concluded with discussing our next meeting, which is scheduled to be on Wednesday, January 5th, once again at Ray's home. I have included links to all of these individual discussion threads in order to foster more participation and share more and better ideas. Notes on our Seventh Meeting

The Rio Grande Valley Zeitgeist Movement held it's seventh general meeting in McAllen, Texas on Wednesday evening. This was one of our most well attended meetings, and we discussed some important upcoming events both to our local group and the global movement efforts.
Our main topic of discussion was regarding the upcoming McAllen Artwalk event coming up this Friday, between 6 and 10 PM along Main St. Our general plans are to arrive early so we can set up our table and chairs near a location with electrical power. Many members will be producing and distributing flyers, DVD's, banners, Tshirts with relevant designs and even musical performances. More importantly, we will be engaging directly with the public and attempting to help people understand our ideas and direction. This has lead to some members having concerns about the unity and tone of our message, and we ask that any member who has an objection to anything that we distribute to others on behalf of our organization to notify us immediately so we can discuss and alter the document if neccessary to better conform to the Movement's goals. I encourage all of our members to provide feedback on the proposed flyer designs that have been posted in our discussion and alert us about any potential problems that you may see. Previous experience has shown that many people are aware of the films or the movement, but unaware that we had a local chapter. We will also likely be encountering those individuals who are critical of our ideas, and attempting to help allay their fears or help them to better understand what we are trying to accomplish. This will be a challenge for all of us involved, but a necessary and ultimately rewarding one, for helping others understand is important to enhancing our own comprehension. I encourage everyone who supports the movement to stop by and let us know that you are in the community. I also hope that those who have serious questions or concerns to come engage us directly so that we can help each other find common ground and a better understanding for all involved.
Our second main topic of discussion was that of the upcoming screening of Zeitgeist Moving Forward. We will be confirming our available time slots with the STC venues sometime in the coming weeks, and that will help inform our decisions regarding what specific times we wish to show the film, and if we can dedicate time to showing the previous films and lectures as well. As I have mentioned in the Google Groups discussion platform, I have inquired with Cine El Rey as to their venue availability and pricing structure, and they informed me that a free to public non-profit screening will cost $600 per screening day. This is opposed to a $2000 dollar fee for screenings that charge a ticket price. I will continue to communicate with the venue representatives to determine if a different arrangement can be made, and hopefully we can secure this venue as well. One member brought up the possibility that we can screen the film in the Boarder Theater in Mission. We will look into that possibility very soon. The major commercial theater venues will continue to be considered for this and future events, but the outlook does not look good for their cooperation. Another member indicated that the Edinburg Public Library would be able to host a non-profit organization, so this will be another venue we will pursue. We will continue to post progress on this project as it occurs.
Lastly, we continued our efforts in better honing our argument and persuasion skills by discussing some recent criticisms and concerns that our members have been considering. We were fortunate enough to be provided with a copy of The Zeitgeist Movement Manual which was copied and printed by one of our newest members. I hope all who attended get a chance to read the relevant sections of the document and see if it aids us in our upcoming activism. We also discussed the official movement documents and how they fit in with our techniques and arguments for our cause. There is a great deal of information both in the Member guide and the Venus Project FAQ's that will be vital to know and understand if we are to effectively be conversant and persuasive on a variety of issues. The better informed we are, the better we can inform others.
We concluded with a discussion of some late breaking Venus Project news regarding the Pangea organization in Greece. They have garnered a full endorsement from Jacque Fresco and Roxanne Meadows and are working towards the initial stages of a Resource Based Economy. This is significant news in regards to just how soon we can start thinking of this movement's goals coming to fruition. As we continue to monitor and assess their efforts, we can gain confidence in ability of this new system to truly resolve fundamental issues and bring true hope to those who have been waiting for it for such a long time.
The next meeting will likely be on December 18th, and we will announce the details of that meeting as they emerge. Thank you for your time and attention, and I hope to see you this Friday in McAllen. Notes On Our Sixth Meeting

The Rio Grande Valley Zeitgeist Movement held its sixth general meeting on Saturday, which was primarily focused on our first major project and other activism events. We began by screening the trailer for the upcoming Zeitgeist Moving Forward film. We decided as a group that securing at least one venue and screening this film during the exclusivity period will be our first major goal. We also had preliminary discussions for the upcoming Z-Day event in March, and decided to make more immediate plans for the upcoming McAllen Art Walk event on December 3rd. In addition, we had a discussion dealing with criticisms of the movement and how to argue and discuss common concerns we might come across while interacting with the public. Finally, we decided that due to the popular holiday weekend which our next meeting is scheduled for, we will not hold an official meeting, but will possibly hold an informal gathering sometime between now and December 1st.
As I mentioned, the first major discussion was regarding our decision to hold a screening of the next film. The first order of business, as I understand it, is for our group to become an official chapter of the movement. It is generally unclear as to what we must do in order to meet this level, and the lack of a Texas state coordinator means that I have asked Jen Wild, United States coordinator, directly what we must do. Beyond that, we must secure a venue for screening the film and sign a contract with Peter Joseph in order to secure a copy of the film. The distribution and screening process of this film is radically different from other mainstream films, in that individual chapter coordinators are going to be responsible for a large part of it and not a major distributor or theater chain. We discussed a variety of venues, most significantly the available screens at South Texas College and UTPA, as well as Cine El Rey. Both Armando Lopez and myself will make efforts to learn more about and attempt to secure these venues, and we ask that anyone with the ability or experience of securing these venues to come forward and assist us in these efforts. The general idea of the exclusivity period is that chapters would be able to generate revenue to help cover expenses of activism and the upcoming Z-Day events.
We had preliminary discussions regarding the upcoming Z-Day events which will most likely be in March. It will likely be an all day event that will involve screening of the various movement films, lectures and associated media. In addition, we could have other presentations and lectures that are given by ourselves and that can relate directly with issues we face in our local community. We discussed some possible venues and ideas for that event, and we will be discussing them in greater detail as we go forward.
Our most important discussion was regarding the upcoming Art Walk festival which is held on the first Friday of the month in McAllen. Several members indicated that they had great success previously in distributing flyers and noting that a great deal of those they talked to had already heard of the movement and were surprised and interested by the existence of a local chapter. We encourage all members who are able, to design and print flyers, informational pamphlets and banners so that we can have a presence at this event and inform and reach even more people. In addition, if you have the ability to design or decorate your clothing to promote the movement and our website, this is also encouraged. We will have more details posted in this space and in our new groups platform as we near the date. We will also discuss this during the next official meeting.

We covered some of the major issues that people bring up and accuse the movement of when we attempt to share our goals and ideas. We covered the issue of a lack of monetary system, and discussed that we need to bring up the current problems that the monetary system possesses. We also discussed the accusation of our movement advocating communism, which we concluded were projections of old fears into a system that is completely different. We need to encourage people to be more specific in their terms, as the idea of communism is usually brought up as a vague and ill defined idea. We closed with a discussion on the decision making process, the idea of dissent within a resource based economy and personal responsibility. We ended with our customary group photo whichwill appear in this space as soon as it is now available!
